Isaiah 44:14 – “He hewest him down cedars, and taketh the cypress and the oak, which he strengtheneth for himself among the trees of the forest.”

Cypress is mentioned only 5 times in the bible and also in a Babylonian tablet dated 1800 B.C.

The cypress tree is renowned for its durability. The sturdy cypress doors of St. Peter’s in Rome for example, show no signs of decay, even after 1,200 years! Some scholars think cypress wood was used in building the ark.

Cypress essential oil is steam distilled from branches. Cypress is great to apply topically after exercise with a carrier oil to soothe achy muscles. It is commonly used in leg massage. It has a stimulating aroma that can promote a sense of strength and grounding.

In ancient times, Cypress was used to benefit the urinary system and for excessive loss of fluids (perspiration, diarrhea, and menstrual flow).
