09.14.17- Michele Troxler

Eucalyptus Radiata

Eucalyptus Radiata essential oil is loved for its fresh, pungent, and fruity aroma, making it ideal for refreshing unpleasant spaces such as the bathroom. Diffuse Eucalyptus Radiata to promote a stimulating and rejuvenating environment.

DIY Bathroom/shower/tile mildew remover

When mold & mildew occurs, make a spray with 2 cups of water and 10 drops Eucalyptus oil, 5 drops tea-tree and 5 drops lavender oil to a glass spray bottle. Shake first and spray on trouble spots. The oils break down the mildew so there’s no need to wipe it down. (From Green Interior Design, by Lori Dennis)

Citrus Fresh™

Citrus Fresh™ Essential Oil is a fantastic blend of oils which freshens air from environmental impurities and supports healthy skin tone. It includes naturally occurring constituents limonene, beta-pinene, and linalol.

On the emotional end, it has a balancing effect. Mentally it may aid in greater focus and alertness. Who doesn’t want clean happy and refreshed all the time?!

Make a spray bottle of water with 15-25 drops of Citrus Fresh oil to freshen bathroom.

Clove

Clove oil is a truly amazing essential oil – it has many healing properties as well as being an effective oil to use around your home. It is also an anti-microbial, anti-fungal, antiseptic and anti-viral. This oil is great for removing mold and mildew in the bathroom.

You can also use Clove Vitality with water as a very cleansing, numbing, and healing mouthwash/gargle!!

DIY Mold/Mildew Remover

  • 3 drops clove oil
  • 5 drops lavender oil
  • 5 drops eucalyptus oil
  • 2/3 cup (150ml) white spirits
  • 3/4 cup (200ml) water

Put all ingredients in a spray bottle and shake well. Spray onto the moldy areas (patch test first to make sure it doesn’t damage the surface) then leave for a few hours. Wipe off with a wet cloth to remove the mold (sometimes it may need a scrub with a brush to get rid of stubborn mold). Then spray a little more on the area and leave it as this will stop mold growing back. This will work on tiles, tile grout, walls and ceilings (just make sure if you spray it on the ceiling it doesn’t fall into your eyes).

You can remove mold from a nylon shower curtain using the same solution — just spray it on, leave overnight, then wash as normal in your washing machine. Hang it out in the sun to dry.
